Postpartum Physiotherapy
Postpartum Physiotherapy
Regardless of whether you had a vaginal or c-section birth and whether the delivery was relatively easy or if you experienced complications, the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles can be affected. An assessment at 6-8 weeks postpartum is important to examine these areas. Common concerns postpartum are leaking with exercise (or laughing, coughing etc.), pain during intercourse, low back pain, hip pain and pelvic pain, as well as pain at the location of the scar. This can be a confusing time for many as they are unsure of how to get back to their typical fitness routine or sport safely.
How I can Help
- Reducing diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles)
- Decreasing pain with intercourse
- Reducing leaking with exercise, laughing, coughing, etc.
- Treating back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, etc.
- Addressing pelvic organ prolapse
- Mobilizing scar (c-section or perineal)
- Returning to previous level of activity or sport
