Prenatal Physiotherapy
Prenatal Physiotherapy
During pregnancy the body undergoes dramatic physiological changes. Ligaments become more lax, the lower back becomes more arched, abdominal muscles stretch and become weaker and the overall centre of gravity shifts. As the baby grows, the demand on the pelvic floor increases and it becomes more difficult to get a deep breath in. The guidance from medical professionals is often confusing. Women are left confused about how much physical activity they can engage in, can they start a new sport, and how to prevent common problems during pregnancy and birth. I help guide you through every stage of pregnancy and prepare you for a safe birthing experience.
How I can Help
- Decreasing common pregnancy aches and pains: pubic symphysis, SI joint, and back pain
- Decreasing risk of diastasis recti (seperation of abdominal muscles during pregnancy)
- Decreasing risk of prolapse
- Decreasing risk of tearing
- Creating safe and effective exercise programs for each stage of pregnancy
- Preparing the pelvic floor for birth
